NUJ accuses Financial Times management of 'hypocrisy' | Media | guardian.co.uk

Good to see the NUJs sense of solidarity is as strong as usual! When I was at the FT, and trying to recruit people to SOGAT and later GPMU the NUJ was single mindedly avoiding giving any support to our members with RSI, to such an extent that they signed a seperate deal with the management- when a journalist gets RSI is a disaster, however when a secretary suffers from it it is altogether less serious.

Equally here it seems that 9 journalists are going to be made redundant, not nice and naturally should be fought against, particularly as management refuses to forego their bonuses, however another 60, yes sixty, staff memebrs from advertising, circulations, admin are on their way out- have the NUJ even bothered to talk to the other unions. Doubt it.

Peter Chapman is a good, hard working FOC, just a shame about his members.

Saying all of that, it is about time I actually joined the NUJ French section, seems to be run by old Party comrades. Home sweet home..
